So much to say

Here is my new entrance song wherever I go.

I feel like I have so much to say and so much info to share, yet no idea where to begin.  and 90% of what I want to say will not be said.

I guess on the personal front, my wife and I were offered jobs in Colorado Springs, Colorado, which we accepted if they can meet our needs for moving dates and whatnot.  We are also waiting to hear back from Larimer County, Colorado (Fort Collins) where we would love to live and work, but it has been a while so we are not holding our breath anymore. So…it is looking like we may be moving in the near future (keeping fingers crossed).

In running related news…I did a good amount of running while up in Sedona.  For whatever reason that place re-energizes me like no other.  The weather was cool, often cold if the clouds were out, and the altitude hasn’t changed.  If I were some type of elite runner I would live and train there, but the housing is crazy, even with the recent housing value crash, plus Flag is right up the road and much more suited for elites.  I would still choose Sedona if I could.  Here are some pictures taken right off of the trails I ran, most were posted as they happened on Facebook.  Click on the picture for a larger image.

Then while running I came across the hill that has always killed me.  It is very steep (I know I should have measured the incline by now, but I have not) and this time I had my phone with me so I did a video of it.  Ignore the huffing and puffing, this was done after 4 miles of already hilly running, which for me sapped my strength.

Here is part of where I did a lot of running.

Here is a video of the Rhodesian Ridgeback ,I took Miles for a 4.2 mile run yesterday, these dogs are amazing.  He trotted along with me the entire way like it was no big deal,  and after we got home he was still itching to go for more.  I guess 30 miles is a decent run for these dogs.

I have not added many local races lately, so here are a few from get set AZ.

Lyndsey goes under the  knife for surgery to remove her lateral sesamoid bone on Wednesday (St. Patrick’s day).  Hopefully this will be the end to her foot problems as she has not been able to run or really enjoy life for the last 4-5 months.  When we went hiking she soldiered up to finish it with the kids and I as it was very challenging at times, but she doesnt want to miss anything.  I can honestly say that she is way tougher than I am.   I mean who can have their wisdom teeth removed with no sedatives and walk out saying “where do you want to go?”

We had short notice, but we are ready to get it done.  Hopefully no jobs will call for in person interviews anytime soon.  God, I really want to move to the heaven on earth known as Colorado. I will work for free for 6 months if someone who pays decent will hire me or us.

BTW, KCSU is a good station for a Mountain West University.

Here is my Flavors page, I love flavors.  It keeps all of your online personalities in one place.  Pretty cool.

New Year = new____?

I guess I am a bit late in joining the new years resolution train.  Really I don’t like making resolutions as I generally forget about them within a few days,  but since I will be posting mine up here for the world to see (BTW…why are so many people hitting my page from Pakistan in the past few weeks?) I will have more motivation to keep with it.

So in no particular order here I go.

Run in at least 10 races this year.  I will target 3 or 4 as goal races, the rest will be for training and to get reconnected to the running community.

Be more involved with getting my family fit.  My wife runs, and daughter plays a lot of soccer, but I want to take it up a bit.  Going for hikes as often as we can, biking to the store instead of taking the car, getting my daughter more involved with running, and getting my indoor loving son out playing more sports.  With Miles the dog nearing 12 months old, pretty soon he will be able to join us in running, which Ridgebacks were made to do.

Eat better.  I say this all the time, but it is so much easier to pick up something from the drive thru, or throw a frozen meal in the microwave.  This resolution will make huge changes in my mood and training ability.

Keep doing yoga, and specific strength exercises for my hip.  ‘Nuff said.

Be more focused at work.  Wont go into detail on that here.  My dark little secret. (I am very deep and complex!)

Spend more quality time with the wife.  She likes touring microbreweries…doesn’t she?

Ok, I don’t want to put to much on my plate and set myself up for ultimate failure, so I will end it there.  If I could add a few to a subcategory it would be look for opportunities to move to Colorado or the Northwest.  Get to 10% bodyfat.  Only get coffee when I need it, break that habit.  And oh yeah, brew my own beer.  Oh, and FINALLY get the flame tattoos on my lower legs.
