So much to say

Here is my new entrance song wherever I go.

I feel like I have so much to say and so much info to share, yet no idea where to begin.  and 90% of what I want to say will not be said.

I guess on the personal front, my wife and I were offered jobs in Colorado Springs, Colorado, which we accepted if they can meet our needs for moving dates and whatnot.  We are also waiting to hear back from Larimer County, Colorado (Fort Collins) where we would love to live and work, but it has been a while so we are not holding our breath anymore. So…it is looking like we may be moving in the near future (keeping fingers crossed).

In running related news…I did a good amount of running while up in Sedona.  For whatever reason that place re-energizes me like no other.  The weather was cool, often cold if the clouds were out, and the altitude hasn’t changed.  If I were some type of elite runner I would live and train there, but the housing is crazy, even with the recent housing value crash, plus Flag is right up the road and much more suited for elites.  I would still choose Sedona if I could.  Here are some pictures taken right off of the trails I ran, most were posted as they happened on Facebook.  Click on the picture for a larger image.

Then while running I came across the hill that has always killed me.  It is very steep (I know I should have measured the incline by now, but I have not) and this time I had my phone with me so I did a video of it.  Ignore the huffing and puffing, this was done after 4 miles of already hilly running, which for me sapped my strength.

Here is part of where I did a lot of running.

Here is a video of the Rhodesian Ridgeback ,I took Miles for a 4.2 mile run yesterday, these dogs are amazing.  He trotted along with me the entire way like it was no big deal,  and after we got home he was still itching to go for more.  I guess 30 miles is a decent run for these dogs.

I have not added many local races lately, so here are a few from get set AZ.

Lyndsey goes under the  knife for surgery to remove her lateral sesamoid bone on Wednesday (St. Patrick’s day).  Hopefully this will be the end to her foot problems as she has not been able to run or really enjoy life for the last 4-5 months.  When we went hiking she soldiered up to finish it with the kids and I as it was very challenging at times, but she doesnt want to miss anything.  I can honestly say that she is way tougher than I am.   I mean who can have their wisdom teeth removed with no sedatives and walk out saying “where do you want to go?”

We had short notice, but we are ready to get it done.  Hopefully no jobs will call for in person interviews anytime soon.  God, I really want to move to the heaven on earth known as Colorado. I will work for free for 6 months if someone who pays decent will hire me or us.

BTW, KCSU is a good station for a Mountain West University.

Here is my Flavors page, I love flavors.  It keeps all of your online personalities in one place.  Pretty cool.

How running helps me.

Asics seems to have captured what running does for me.  It does many things really, physical health, fitness, promotes creativity, cleanses my pallet for beer intake, outlet for stress, anger, anxiety…

In other news…

The Sedona Marathon was this past weekend in of all places, Sedona Arizona.  The weather was good but not ideal for a marathon (or half marathon) as it was around 34 degrees at the start with lingering clouds and wind.  At least the rain stayed away until a few hours after the race.  Props to everyone who completed the race under those conditions.

Also this past weekend were the Boston Indoor Games (BIG). If you missed it Bernard Lagat ran a great 5000 meters, pulling ahead with about a lap to go after leading most of the race.  His winning time was an American record of 13 minutes 11.5 seconds. More info can be found…here.

Good job Bernard, even if you do a lot of training in Tucson.

In personal news my wife is still trying to get back into the swing of running as she deals with pain and serious discomfort n her foot.  After several rounds of x-rays and MRI’s the sports podiatrist has decided that there is a problem with one of her sesamoid bones.  A cortisone shot has helped, but she cant continue to get shots every few months so we will see what is next.  Orthotics maybe?

I have been hit and miss with my running (still).  I have gotten some good quality faster tempo runs in lately, but nothing of a great distance.  I really want to get out and hit a 10 miler, but just have not found the determination to get on the roads. Perhaps this will be the week.I will be up in Sedona for 5 days at the end of the month so maybe that will be the key to my letting it rip for some serious weekly mileage. And since I am coming, the Oak Creek Brewing Company had better fire up some of their best Ale for my enjoyment.
