Some love from Great Divide Brewing

We posted on Twitter professing our love for Great Divides Brewing’s beers and wondered out loud if they ever sponsor or throw some gear (shirts, socks, kegs of beer, whatever) at people (runners in particular) who love and promote the endurance workout recovery aiding benefits of their products.  Not really expecting a response we were shocked and happy to receive this:

@psychopathrun swing by the brewery for some stickers and free shwag!

Hallelujah!  Now I just need to move up my plans for a visit to the neighborhood.    Or perhaps they know that I am not a local and they are toying with me.  Nah, they wouldn’t do that.  They are a cool group of people.  At least all of the people I met while on the brewery tour, including the owner Brian Dunn.

For those of you who have not partaken in irrigating your body with their delicious nectar’s, I suggest all of you pick up some of their suds and give them a shot. If you have sampled their beer then plan a trip to Denver and go see where all of the sudsy goodness originates from.

Broncos beat the Giants on Thanksgiving, and I drank beer.

Thanksgiving was yesterday and I have so very much to be thankful for.  I hope all of you took a moment to realize how good your life is-I may not  know you but if you are reading this I guess you are better off than 99% of the world’s population.  It was great to have family around and friends on the Motorola Droid (shameless plug) to share the day with.

I was not able to run in Peoria’s turkey trot yesterday due to my hip, I really think I am headed back to the physical therapist. For those of you who did run in a turkey trot, good job.  You earned those calories you consumed in the afternoon and evening!  Me, I just consumed.

Thank goodness the losing streak is over, but I don’t know if it is in time to catch the dreaded Chargers.  Hopefully they can keep it up and nab the wild-card if they don’t take 1st place back.   It was a pretty good game that the defense really dominated, which I did not expect at all. What can you say about Brandon Marshall, except give him a contract extension…NOW!

And then we have coach McD.  I will admit, I was so wrong about this guy before the season started.  I even sent an email to Pat Bowlen telling him what a stupid mistake he made.  Now the Broncs are way overachieving and Cutler is in Chicago losing, throwing interceptions left and right, and costing yet another coach his job.

McDaniels is winning games (Coach of the year anyone?) and ripping into his players when it is needed. “All we’re trying to do is win a mother fu@kin’ game!” I am glad he got all over them for those stupid 3 false start penalties as I was screaming at my TV about it.

Bonus clip…

What’s left to cover…hmm.  Broncos, check.  Thanksgiving, check.  Cutler sucks, check.  Oh yeah…BEER!

We had many different beers over the day yesterday.  Everything from Belgian wheats to Great Divide (several of my favorites), Oskar Blues Ten Fidy, Breckenridge Brewing’s Vanilla Porter, Sierra Nevada, Hoegaarden, Deschutes Holiday Ale, and a bunch of good stuff I had not heard of or tried before, and even the taste of the Rockies, Coors Light.

So that is about it for now.  I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving, and I hope all of you have a great holiday season full of joy, great running and biking, and many great beers.  Oh yeah, I will be brewing at the end of December as I am getting a primo home brew set up for Christmas.  Lots of hoppy IPA’s and craziness will follow.

Ok, one last bonus picture.

Sacroiliac joint dysfunction recovery?

I went out today and had my best run outdoors since the San Diego marathon (they have a new website by the way, click and check it out) in May.  It was only a little over 4 miles and I purposely went at a slow pace so I could keep tabs on how my hip and sacroiliac joint was feeling (plus I lost most of my fitness and have gained some weight, but I wont admit that last part publicly). It felt good to strap on the Garmin 405, Nike lunar trainers, running clothes and get out on the trail and road.  It had been so long I noticed that the golf courses have killed off their grass to overseed.

I really felt pretty good uphill, downhill, flat, and rolling terrain.  It did my psyche good as well as I could feel myself getting cranky, moody, and borderline psychotic.  So if I could notice it I know everyone around me knew I was being a jerk.

If everything keeps going pretty well with my hip, hopefully I can return to regular training on the roads and trails as well as incorporate the gym into the mix and nail the Sedona Marathon.

If I do get back into training I will need to slow down on all of the great beer I have been drinking recently. Maybe…I know my diet will need to change as I have been eating whatever I want whenever I want.  This will be good for me in many areas, hopefully the worst of it is over.  Stay tuned…
