I ran across this article and it made me wonder why such a big race series would be stealing the race course of other established races. I guess it all comes down to a lack of work ethic and drive for the dollar bills. The article talks about when races put their even on the same dates or weekends as other established races, that has happened here when the ING marathon first ran the same weekend as the Rock and Roll Arizona, then switched to another weekend. The same weekend as the Lost Dutchman Marathon. Why not pick a date that is free and clear of other races instead of piggybacking off of others? I know the ING people first pled ignorance then said that the Dutchman is on the other side of town which is true, but it has been around for 30 years while you are an upstart trying to grab attention to get your race off the ground.
Anyway, back to the Ragnar. This even has had plenty of bad press lately from runners being hit while running in the dar, they really dont need this too. Want to see the article? Click here.
